Verified ReviewerResolved: Ryobi will not replace defective battery
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I received the replacement Ryobi battery today for the defective battery I had sent to the Rapid Repair Center.
This is 51 days after Ryobi sent me an email stating that the new battery had shipped.
I had called Ryobi customer service four times since receiving the original email asking for a shipping status update. Three times the Ryobi representative told me the order was in process but no shipping information was available.
In early January 2024, received an email from Ryobi stating the battery was determined to be defective and that a replacement battery would be shipped. Never received a replacement battery.
In February 2024, I contacted Ryobi customer service. Have received two different order numbers for the replacement battery in two telephone conversations.
Neither order has been processed by Ryobi.
The last customer service representative I spoke with told me there is nothing more that can be done. Unacceptable customer service.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Avoid Ryobi tools that require rechargeable batteries.

Verified ReviewerCustomer service is non existent and they don't give a damn, I have been dealing with them for 4 months now and have gotten no where. Do nOt buy any gas powered tools from them. They have no repair
They have no repair network for repairing gas engines. I bought a leaf blower and started pouring gas all over the place.
Tried to return it to home depot but 2 yrs old but I did buy replacement extended warranty but they are trying to make me drive 1 hr each way 4 times to drop off and pick up.
It will cost me more than it is worth, and what if this shop is as incompetent as the customer service dept, I could end up having to back and forth how many more times.
I bought it at Home depot and just want to get another one at home depot, the extended warranty says replacement not repair. Company has gone downhill bad lately.
If having similar problems contact me I may be starting a class action lawsuit for failure to comply with their own replacement policy.
It will make a nice story in the news for Home Depot and Ryobi.
- Normally a good electric tool
- Gas tools terrible and no repair or return network

Verified ReviewerRyobi is a total disappointment in product and customer service
I bought a 40V HP Push Lawn Mower and Charger operated Ryobi mower (in addition to many other tool)s In fact, the Ryobi salesperson happened to be at the Watchung NJ Home Depot on April 11, 2022 and helped me pick out all my equipment. Following my purchase he asked to take a picture of me holding all the equipment bc I went all in on Ryobi.
RECEIPT ATTACHED
Within a few uses of the mower, the battery became stuck, thus rendering it useless. More importantly it also made all my other tools, which also need that battery, useless. When I took it to home depot for repair I was told I would have to pay for it to be fixed even though I just bought it. I was also told there would be a wait time of a couple of weeks.
I asked if I could borrow a battery in the meantime bc the one I had is stuck in the mower, but was told there is no such program and would have to buy a new one in order to use the other Ryobi tools I bought. Call me crazy but I bought the extra battery vs putting money into the home depot repair and used the other battery port to power the mower. Yes, it was frustrating, but at least I didnt have to wait three weeks to begin to maintain my lawn, which frankly affects me in a personal way, and especially considering the preparation that went into getting ready to do work in the first place.
At the end of the season in November 2022 (pic attached) I took the mower to Home Depot and paid for it to be serviced bc I was only able to use the mower half the time I wanted to and needed the extra battery. I paid for it, they fixed it in about a week and I stored it for winter.
Fast forward to Sunday May 1 2023 and I am ready to begin my spring cleaning.
First attempt to mow the lawn and the battery is stuck in the mower AGAIN! FIrst try!!!
Call Ryobi AGAIN and am told Home Depot is no longer their service center and that I need to drive 45 minutes to the Lawn Mower Shop Inc, 237 W Union Ave, Bound Brook, NJ 08805. I drive 45 minutes on a Saturday AT 12PM only to find the shop is closed "due to a personal engagement" (PIC ATTACHED). The only way to know this is to show up bc they didnt mention on their voicemail or website.
Mind you this is the first Saturday in May, and the ONE place I can take my Ryobi mower is closed for a personal engagement. Ok, frustrated but willing to come back Sunday. Drive 45 minutes again as they are supposed to open at 10am. Employee does not open the store until 1023.
I am texting them letting them know people are waiting but get no response (Picture attached). Clearly my issue is so routine that the employees tells me without looking at the mower to put it behind the 50 other Ryobi mowers that are in the queue to be worked on and to call her in 3 weeks!!!
I cant do this again and be out of my mower and the battery for the first three weeks of the season.
So, lets sum this up. I go all in on Ryobi. Within three mows the battery gets stuck in the mower.
I buy a battery, go a whole season without one battery that is stuck in my mower and can only mow half the time, I then pay to get battery removed only for it to get stuck again on first use the following spring, drive 45 minutes to the place Ryobi tells me will be open on Saturday May 6 (the first weekend of May) only to find store closed, so I drive back next day to find store doesn't open on time and there are so many broken Ryobi mowers ahead of me that I cant get my battery or my lawn mower for three more weeks!!!
I only wish I took a picture of the queue of Ryobi Mowers waiting to be serviced.
Like dead equipment in a junkyard all piled up.
I have called and asked Ryobi for help multiple times and have never gotten anythign but a finger pointing me in another direction.
This is my sad story. Dont be like me and buy Ryobi.

Verified ReviewerRecall needed on One+ Brushless HP Vac
We won't recommen this stick vacuum. This product needs RECALLED by Ryobi Corporation. 30 year RYOBI customer.
Picks up debris, but needs recalled for bigger mfg/design issues. When you use it, hand placement shuts off button turning vacuum off 6+ times each used. Ryobi displayed this defect by mistake on box in promotional photo, which is funny. Debris container smaller than previous vacuum.
Debris container extremely difficult to put back on, popping off repeatedly. This is the sorriest design we have ever seen and needs RECALLED. Appears the company skipped the step to test product themselves and not allow customer to test, in order to rush out to sell in time for Christmas 2023. Shameful!!
We will be returning this product and feel it should be recalled as defective.
Not the stores fault but they're getting it back due to defective functions Ryobi should have NEVER allowed to sell to the customer in the first place. Not a cheap vacuum, this is their latest and greatest according to RYOBI I called today.
- Lights up floor
- Small canister
- Turns off 6xeach time used design flaw
- Struggle to reattach canister design flaw
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: RECALL this HP Brushless Pet stick Vac
Battery/Charger Replacement
User's recommendation: Don't buy Ryobi until they figure out customer support
In pain!
The push mower ran upon my foot and cut two and a half of my toes off. Couldn't find them so they could be attached at first.
Come to find out they were found in the bag part of mower. Unfortunately too late to have them replaced on my foot. They had maggots on them when found. I can't walk as I'm in so much pain and can't keep my balance.
Don't you dare laugh as this is not funny at all.
Also it ruined one of my shoes but still have the other one so my wife might take them to Walmart and exchange them. The blood was tremendous and my son fed my two toes to his dog and is still chewing on my big toe.

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Tried to register my new 18 volt inverter. Went to the website and entered the data and reached a dead end. Website is the worst I have seen. Difficult to maneuver and when I thought I had done everyt
Whoever constructed your website did an unacceptable job! Difficult to maneuver.
Registering my tool was impossible. After I entered my data the site had no button to push that showed that the data had been correctly entered. One other area of the site asked for name, address and country. I filled in the info and when I got to the country box I was given 3 choicesUS, MX AND ONE OTHER CHOICE.
I SELECTED US which generated invalid address response. This resulted in a DEAD END with no way to enter a correct response.
VERY BAD WEBSITE which is so bad that it is not useable.
NEEDS TO BE FIXEDNOW!
Please let me know when you have repaired this site. I have another tool that I want to register.
User's recommendation: Website impossible to use. Chat feature was also useless because I only receive a robotic response that did not offer to walk me through a solution to my difficulties.
To let people know what is the quality of Ryobi tools which are excellent inexpensive and reliable
- Very reliable
- Cheap and well designed
Preferred solution: Just to review my 18v vaccum which by de guy I’m happy
User's recommendation: Buy and save some money while you get your job done
Do not buy ryobi - ever
Bought a cultivator a few years ago and it had a 5 year manufacturer's warranty on it. Seemed like a good price and it worked at first.
Then the switch stopped working. The switch box is sold pre-assembled with the unit. I called to see if I could get a replacement for the switch box and was told that I could only buy individual parts inside the switchbox. Also was told that I voided any warranty by opening the switchbox to see if I could fix it myself.
Darius D.
and his manager Michael C. made sure I didn't receive any support for my Ryobi product. Did not try to help with my problem at all.
Just wanted to make sure Ryobi could void my warranty. NEVER RYOBI AGAIN.
- Seemed like a good price and worked at first
- Stopped working and customer support just avoids liability

When the HOME Depot's and Lowes started to come around people just turned away from Service Centers and Local shops .... And it seems the ones demanding free services are the ones complaining about no serviced and support these days
and with the number of Tesla's catching fire... an Electric Lawn mower doing the same thing is surprising HOW?
Google how often EVs catch fire compared to gas cars. Hint: it's about 2,500% LESS likely to catch on fire compared to a gas car, so it's probably just as rare with electric lawnmowers since this is the first time I've heard of this happening and I've owned a Ryobi 48v riding mower for 3 years.
Stop buying electric powered cars and equipment dummies!!!
I repaired these lawn mowers (and all other outdoor power equipment) for Home Depot. That department has since closed down and now all repairs are done by the Manufacturer.
Im guessing that is the issue.
I see it’s an older model. They were very unreliable
Somehow, looking at the photo we don’t know the whole story. Did you maybe overload it?
I’ve had a black and decker for 20 yrs. Never had a problem. The batteries lasted 19 yrs.
With a battery thermal event that is all you can do or submerge in water completely!!!
I'm curious if it was gas or electric? Review never said. It would probably help others to know which.
If you can't tell that's a battery powered mower, you're an idiot and shouldn't be allowed around power tools of any kind.
